EVA-trio

kolme muusikkoa, yhdellä on sello ja toisella kantele edessään

EVA Trio is formed by three versatile musicians who move effortlessly between musical styles: vocalist Essi Wuorela, kantele player Anna-Karin Korhonen, and cellist and flutist Vesa Norilo. The trio began their collaboration 15 years ago by exploring Finland’s treasure trove of songs in search of “folk classics” such as Hummani hei and Niin kauan minä tramppaan, which they began rearranging with a bold and fresh approach inspired by contemporary folk music. Their vibrant and swinging arrangements were featured on their debut album Ensimmäiset seikkailut, released in 2013, which also received an Emma Award nomination.

The trio’s second album, Hauras jää, featuring arrangements and compositions by the ensemble’s members, was released in 2020. EVA Trio has performed at numerous festivals in Finland and toured in Germany and Canada. The trio has also expanded its repertoire into children’s music: the album Orava, peippo ja pikkuinen lintu was released digitally in January 2025.

This year, EVA Trio began a collaboration with the Open Voice Choir, led by Jennifer Moir. Their joint concerts have featured choral arrangements of EVA classics. The trio’s collaboration with violist Atte Kilpeläinen dates back to their early days, including performances at festivals such as Oulunsalo Soi and Kotka’s Lohisoitto in 2011. Atte Kilpeläinen also appears as a guest on EVA Trio’s debut album.
